A food giveaway Tuesday afternoon in Penn Forest Township is helping to feed local families
The giveaway was hosted by Spectrum Community Services in partnership with the USDA, "Farmers to Families" program. Each box had staple items like produce, chicken, milk and eggs.
Officials say the families they served today are appreciative for the extra help stretching their food budgets.
"It's Covid times, a lot of people are without work. Bills are becoming a little more stressful, kids are home more, so just a little bit that this will help for the grocery bill will help. It will also help people understand that we are all in this together," said Regional Director Joleane Ferris.
In total, 400 boxes of food were distributed to families.
