Cleanup efforts continue after the devastating fire that ripped through a historic Tamaqua church this past weekend.

Saturday night's flames all but destroyed the former Presbyterian Church on West Broad.

World-renowned artist Stephen Bennett bought the church when he moved to the area from Brooklyn.

He spent ten years renovating it into a living space, studio and gallery.

Bennett is currently working overseas. Family members have been hard at work trying to preserve what they can of the art that was inside.

"He's an impact to the area and [everyone] thinks it's important for him to stay here...the building's important, it has historical value, it's just right now pretty much destroyed," said Sarah Bennett, Stephen's sister.

Bennett did not have insurance on the building.

A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise money for repairs and preservation efforts.

More than $5,400 dollars has already been donated, as of Thursday afternoon.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
