Lehighton police are warning residents about two men posing as borough utility workers.

Police say at around noon today, two white men showed up to an elderly couple's home and said they were there to check their water.

Once inside, one of the men asked the woman to empty the cabinet below the sink while the other man asked to check their basement.

The woman became suspicious and said she was going to call her daughter. That's when police say the two men took off.

Police are urging residents to verify a worker's credentials with their local utility company before allowing them inside their homes. If they're unable to be verified, call police immediately.
