Thirty days.

That's how much time is left until the new Lehighton Outdoor Center is open to the public.

News 13 stopped by Tuesday afternoon to get a look inside. Owner Jerry McAward tells us he received a certificate of occupancy last Friday, a huge step in what has been a four and a half year long process.

A lot of people have been stopping in thinking the Outdoor Center is open for business but McAward says it's not quite ready just yet.

"We're going to have a big public event, a big wild party at some point but we have to be open obviously first. Right now, we're still bringing in stock and equipment and desks and all that stuff so we're a little unready at this point but we will be soon," said McAward.

When the Outdoor Center is open, those who visit will have plenty to do and buy.

McAward says the new building will offer all things whitewater rafting and kayaking, as well as bike and snow shoe rentals, disc golf, and a full-service cafe inside.
