The icy roads caused treacherous travel for drivers in Pike County today.
Penn Dot needed to shutdown Interstate 84 in both directions to clear over a dozen accidents involving tractor trailers.
Penn Dot officials say the roads were a sheet of ice and multiple trucks were jackknifing and sliding off the roads.
Traffic had backed up for hours in both directions. Penn Dot was helping clear out the crashes while treating the roads to make them passable.
Officials from Penn Dot were pleased to report that out of the large number of accidents, no one was seriously injured in any of the crashes.
The Interstate was reopened around 10am. Officials from Penn Dot credit the drivers for spending the early morning hours turning things around.
