A fire broke out around 9:30 this morning in the private gated Hemlock Farms Community in Blooming Grove Township.

The home on Stirrup Road belongs to Hemlock Farms fire chief, Buddy Mcghee and his fiancee. Neither one of them was home when the blaze started.

Five different fire companies lent a hand, many of the volunteers showing up on their day off to help out.

However, it was more than just the flames that fire crews had to battle. The warm then cold temperatures created a slick and icy surface and many of the guys had a difficult time staying on their feet.

Firefighters say the flames gutted the home and the house is a total loss. They are just relieved that no one was home when the fire started.

Unfortunately, one of the dogs was unable to escape the house and died in the fire. State Police Fire Marshals are investigating what caused the home to burn.
